Agent Installation Instructions:

 

STEP 1: Install Agent Core Components (391KB)
Download and run the
MSAgent.exe setup program to install the core components. You may then delete the setup program. Windows 2000 users may be able to skip this step. The Microsoft Agent Core Components are already installed on Windows 2000.

STEP 2: Install the Lernout & Hauspie TruVoice, Text-to-Speech Engine (997KB)
Download and run the
TV_Enua.exe setup program to install this component. You may then delete the setup program. The Lernout & Hauspie TruVoice Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine provides speech output capabilities for Microsoft Agent so you can hear what the characters are saying through you sound speakers.

STEP 3: Install the Microsoft Speech Control Panel (927KB)
Download and run the
SpchCpl.exe setup program to install this component. You may then delete the setup program. The Speech Control Panel will add an icon to your Control Panel to enable you to list the compatible speech recognition and text-to-speech engines installed on your system and customize their settings for your use.

STEP 4: Install the Merlin Agent Character (1.78MB)
Download and run the
Merlin.exe setup program to install this component. You may then delete the setup program. Once the Merlin Agent character has been installed, there should be a Merlin.acs file in your C:\WINDOWS\MSAGENT\CHARS or C:\WINNT\MSAGENT\CHARS folder, depending upon your operating system.

STEP 5: Install SAPI 4.0 Runtime Support (824KB) -- Windows XP users ONLY
Download and run the
Spchapi.exe setup program to install this component. You may then delete the setup program. Remember that you ONLY download and install this component if your operating system is Windows XP.
